SCM (Serial communication Module) is a communication module for serial RS232 communication with 3rd party systems.
Connected systems could be firealarms, nursecall systems, hospital systems or builiding management systems could all be integrated. The SCM uses ESPA 4.4.4. as communication protocol.
The SCM is directly connected to a CMS via a 2-wired bus interface. The 2-wired interface called AMB-bus could drive up to 14 modules such as the SCM on one bus. Multiple AMB-buses, even geographicly spread can be used in larger systems.
ESPA 4.4.4 originating as a protocol designed for pager systems but are often used as a standard interface between different systems to send alarms and messages.
